‘Head Hup’ and founder – Peter Mattinson has over 10 years’ working experience in the Traffic, Transport, Highways and Civil Engineering sectors. He co-founded the recruitment consultancy Mattinson Partnership and the transport consultancy MP Smarter Travel, holding the position of Director for 12 years, before moving on in 2016. He now plays a dual role managing both Recruitment and Consultancy arms of the Hup business.
He is involved in initial set-up stages for all new schemes and monitors both delivery & service quality.
Peter holds an MSc in Transport Planning and Management and a BSc in Environmental Science and is a passionate and honest individual, who prides himself on providing top quality customer service. Peter is also a big boxing fan and a recently started Jiu Jitsu!
Principal Consultant – Francis Smith leads on our Air Quality & Sustainable Travel Awareness initiatives as well as providing assistance on cycling and walking projects. He holds a BA in Musical Theatre and has an extensive acting and theatre production background, along with experience delivering environmental awareness initiatives. His combined skill set, ensures that projects are delivered with energy in both a digestible and compelling manner.
A positive and inspirational individual, Francis is a valued member of the team; his natural optimism is however tested on a weekly basis being a lifelong Nottingham Forest fan.
Head of Transport Development Planning (Freelance) – Chris Slack leads all our Development-orientated work, where he is an expert in the preparation of documentation that considers the transport impact of new development, including the preparation of Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and providing transport input into Environmental Impact Assessments.
His project experience has included public realm improvement schemes on behalf of TfL, and the London Boroughs, Canterbury City Council, and high-level master planning input in the preparation of strategic highway access solutions on behalf of major UK housebuilders.
Chris is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (FCIHT).
He enjoys both watching and playing sport, particularly football, tennis and golf. He also likes to head out on his bike when time allows from looking after his two year old. He is also a fan of Manchester United for his sins!”
